Receive Text UpdatesHaving strength and energy for my friends and family, adventure, travel, and serving my country. My passion started with the August 1994 edition of Muscle and Fitness. I saw Arnold on the cover and wanted a body like his. I still own that magazine. I enlisted in the Air Force in 1990. I then became a Marine Corps Commissioned Officer in 1999. I served in Asia, South America, and the Middle East. I retired from the military in 2013. Being healthy and fit was the key to my accomplishments.
What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?Fishing and kayaking are my favorite way to stay fit. It's the reason I go to the gym. I enjoy lifting weights, calisthenics, stretching, as well as cardio on the treadmill, stair climber, and cross-trainer. I also recently started skateboarding and riding freestyle BMX again. My favorite breakfast is oatmeal, flaxseed, almonds, sea salt, honey, and sliced apples. I eat small meals all day and snack on popcorn in the evening. I love coffee too. I hug my animals throughout the day; it helps.
What would you do with $20,000?I would donate it to a Veteran's Organization that focuses on health and fitness for disabled veterans. I remember hitting rock bottom at one point after I retired. All I did was drink alcohol and sit around depressed or anxious all day. I went to a psychiatrist. She gave me pills. They made me feel horrible. I went to a psychologist. She wanted me in group therapy. I knew that would not work for me. I had one-on-one therapy. Nope. Fishing gave me a mission. Working on my fitness saved me.
