Connect What fuels your passion for health and fitness?

As an ex rugby player, training helps hold my body together. I want to live a long healthy life for my children. The look! I’ve been fascinated with the heroes of the 80’s-90’s among other fitness icons. Comics and toys. He-Man was one of my first toys while I read Hulk and Spider-Man comics. Everything I knew and understood was around a muscular physique. Now I want my kids to grow up with similar influences. I want them to understand the benefits of improving their bodies for sports and life.

What’s your favorite way to train or stay fit?

I love the gym atmosphere. It has changed much in the last 20 years. I’m trying to bring back the old school culture. I’ve coached a lot of hockey players and encourage them to ask questions and learn from the regulars, trainers, big guys/girls. I love weight lifting! Training with both free weights and machines. I’m too broken to go too heavy so it has to be smart volume training. Age catches up with you along with the damage suffered along the way.

What would you do with $20,000?

My son is an Elite hockey player. (AAA) It’s very expensive and I’m doing everything I can to support his dream. Winning would take some of the substantial stress away. (Not all!) Budgeting, making sacrifices and choosing when we can travel to watch in person is always a challenge. When a 16 year old is living away from home it’s my job to make sure Mom can see him as much as she can!
